Radamanthys Editions proudly presents Other, a new poetry collection by Konstantin Fischer. Written in English, Other is a powerful exploration of otherness through the lenses of personal experience, intergenerational memory, identity, trauma, and the universal pursuit of equality and human dignity. Combining lyrical reflection with social awareness, Fischer’s poems address themes such as exclusion, Holocaust memory, migration, war, human rights, and the courage to embrace diversity.

With this publication, Radamanthys Editions continues to expand its international catalogue, bringing contemporary voices of global relevance to readers around the world.

NOTE BY THE AUTHOR

In the poems that comprise this collection, Other, written between 2013 and 2025, I attempt to elaborate on the experience of otherness from diverse perspectives. In almost all cases I draw from my own experience, either personal and/or through intergenerational trauma, or from witnessing an event or situation. Only in very few poems the characters are purely fictional. As I can never be certain about emotions and motivations that are not my own, I want to apologize to anyone who feels their privacy intruded, feels exposed or misinterpreted.

I would like to thank my editors, Mary Olsen and Tanya Rasheesa, for their empathy, their patience and their constant encouragement. This collection would not have been published without their crucial support.

Konstantin Fischer was born in 1967 in Hamburg, Germany, where he studied furniture restoration from 1988 to 1992. Since then he has been living in Hania, Greece. A photographer and multi-media artist, he has shown various works in solo and group exhibitions in Germany, Greece, Turkey, Botswana, and Zambia.

Over many years he was engaged in art and literature related intercultural youth work involving young people from Botswana, Zambia, and Greece, an occupation he considers to be in the spirit of the “Social Sculpture” and the “Expanded Concept of Art” (terms coined by Joseph Beuys). The experience of “post”-colonialism in Africa and the outside view onto Europe / “the West” have profoundly influenced Fischer’s work. Over the past years, he has developed increasing interests in history and sociology, and has explored, both as artist and as curator, the fields of power relations, of ambiguity and diversity in contradicting and/or complementing narratives and perceptions, as well as in the field of contested heritage.

The written word has for a long time played an important role in Fischer’s visual artwork, on several occasions even being an integral part of it. Inspired by a series of poetry workshops by British poet Ruth Padel, King’s College, starting in 2012, Fischer continues writing poetry and short stories, almost exclusively in English. Since 2016 he has co-written, or contributed to, several books and other forms of publication for students, parents and educators, highlighting visual art as a tool in contemporary education, all in Greek. Other is Fischer’s first published collection of poems.
